SkiWelt Scheffau. In 1992 there was still no 8-seater chairlift and yet the Scheffau mountain railway once again proved its reputation as a visionary leading company with the construction of the two 4-seater Eibergbahnen chairlifts side by side. It soon became clear that the Eibergbahnen would be an important link in the SkiWelt and would require truly high transport capacities. The two Eibergbahnen not only had some of the highest frequencies in the SkiWelt, they were also always energy-efficient. When not needed, one of the two lifts could be taken out of service at any time. SkiWelt skiers used the Eiberg lifts around 1.3 million times per winter season, meaning that after 32 years they can boast an incredible 43,000,000 rides. However, the two 4-seater chairlifts are not going into a well-deserved retirement. Still in very good technical condition and excellently maintained by the SkiWelt Scheffau team, the cable car has been sold in its entirety to Übersee and will begin its second cable car life there after a general overhaul. We will inform you as soon as it goes into operation.
The new 8-seater Eibergbahn is being built on the same route and, with a dynamic transport capacity of 1,700 to 4,570 passengers per hour, will be the world's highest-capacity detachable 8-seater chairlift. It has a maximum travelling speed of 5m/s, is equipped with seat heating and deliberately without a canopy for wind and resource-related reasons. In the interests of energy efficiency and resource conservation, variable seat insertion will be possible from a minimum of 16 seats, depending on requirements. A centrepiece of the new Eibergbahn will be the new 140 kWP PV system on the roof of the valley station of the Eibergbahn. This can generate around 50% of the annual energy required. Another milestone in the complete energy efficiency of the SkiWelt cable cars.
"We have been planning the new construction of the Eibergbahn for many years. But only now has Doppelmayr, the renowned cable car manufacturer from Vorarlberg, succeeded in achieving the required transport capacity and thus matching the performance of the previous parallel fixed-grip 4-seater cable cars. We are already very excited about the new technically innovative 8-seater chairlift,"
says Andreas Haselsberger, Managing Director of Bergbahn Scheffau
