A positive outlook on the future:

construction of the new Salvista gondola in SkiWelt Itter gets the go-ahead.

Winter sports fans will be delighted – despite COVID-19, work on the new Salvista panoramic gondola is going ahead, thus safeguarding many jobs in these difficult times.

When the preventive measures against COVID-19 began to be introduced on 15 March, the operators of the Hohe Salve Hopfgarten-Itter ropeways faced several major challenges. Could the new Salvista cable car be built at all, or would it have to be postponed? The situation was by no means easy. To what extent could employees continue to work – and could partner enterprises even work at all? When would people be allowed to enter and work in Tyrol, now subject to the strictest rules in Austria? What additional safety measures would be required?

In difficult times, however, it is even more of an advantage that an organisation can count on the numbers of longstanding, highly motivated experts in its ranks. In addition, as in previous cases, the ropeway could also rely upon partners in the construction and craft industries from the region and other parts of Austria for this major project – the replacement of the Salvista cable car – and for the other construction packages. Work therefore began on 14 April.

The old Salvista cable car will find another use.

As has been customary with most of the SkiWelt lifts over the last years and decades, the old Salvista cable car, dating from 1989, has been sold along with its supports and is now being used elsewhere.

The new Salvista cable car will use the same route up to the middle station, then an extension of 650 metres will open up the Kleine Salve. A new storage lake and technology centre are being built just below the top station, while the infrastructure in the building at the bottom station is being completely refurbished with a sports shop, ski hire and ski depot. Finally, better connections to public transport and ski buses for locals and guests alike are a major priority for the Hohe Salve Hopfgarten-Itter cable car operators. Generally accessible mobility represents our future, and SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental has for years now been focusing on improving connections and developing new offers. The aim of this construction work is thus also to enhance ease of use and further expand circulation within SkiWelt.

The excitement is mounting! The Hohe Salve Hopfgarten-Itter lift operators are now inviting all interested parties to the season’s start for the new Salvista panoramic gondola lift.
